🧭 Overview
KidsNova ("we", "our", or "the app") is developed and maintained by MyAppsCart. It is an educational app for children aged roughly 3–8, and this Privacy Policy explains what the app accesses, how it is used, and the choices a parent has.
KidsNova is built to be fully offline and account-free. Everything a child does stays on the device. There is no server, no login, no analytics and no advertising.
🚫 What We Do Not Collect
To be explicit, KidsNova contains none of the following:
- No user accounts, sign-in, or email collection.
- No advertising of any kind, and no ad SDKs.
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting SDKs.
- No social features, chat, sharing, or user-generated content uploads.
- No location access, contacts, photos, or device identifiers.
- No in-app purchases and no payment processing.
- No third-party trackers or SDKs that profile users.
👶 Children's Privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K)
KidsNova is designed for children and is intended to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR including its provisions on children's data, and Google Play's Families policy.
Because the app collects no personal information whatsoever, there is nothing to disclose to a third party and no verifiable parental consent mechanism is required for data collection — there is no collection to consent to.
- A child's name and age are entered by a parent during setup and are stored only on the device. They are never transmitted anywhere.
- The child's name is used solely to greet them in the app and by the on-device voice.
- Age is used solely to pick the right difficulty for lessons.
💾 Information Stored on the Device
So that progress is not lost between sessions, KidsNova saves the following locally on your device only, using Android's private app storage:
- Child profile: first name (or nickname), age, and chosen avatar.
- Learning progress: completed lessons, stars, XP, coins, streaks and daily-goal minutes.
- Parent settings: daily time goal, sound and voice preferences, language, and the optional parent PIN.
This data lives in the app's sandboxed storage, which other apps cannot read. It is not backed up to any cloud service by us, and it is removed completely when the app is uninstalled.
🎤 Microphone & Speech Recognition
KidsNova includes optional pronunciation practice. When a child taps the microphone, the app uses Android's built-in speech recogniser to check whether a spoken word matches the target word.
- The microphone is active only while the child is on a pronunciation step and has tapped to speak.
- KidsNova never records, stores, or uploads audio. No audio file is ever written to disk or sent to us.
- The app receives back only a text guess, compares it to the expected word, and discards it.
- This feature is entirely optional. If the permission is declined, or the device has no recogniser, the microphone step is hidden and the rest of the app works normally.
Note that speech recognition is a service provided by the device's operating system. Depending on the device and its settings, Android's own recogniser may process audio on-device or on Google's servers under Google's Privacy Policy — this is a system-level behaviour outside the app's control, and KidsNova receives only the resulting text.
🔊 Text-to-Speech
Novi, the in-app mascot, reads instructions aloud using the device's built-in text-to-speech engine. The app passes it short phrases (such as a lesson instruction or the child's name) to speak. No audio is recorded and nothing is sent to us.
🔔 Notifications
KidsNova can show a single optional daily learning reminder. It is scheduled locally on the device and involves no server or push service. A parent can turn it off in Parent Zone → Settings or in Android's notification settings. The app also asks for permission to reschedule this reminder after a device restart.
🌐 Network Use
KidsNova is a fully offline app. All lessons, games, artwork, sounds and fonts ship inside the app. It does not request the Internet permission for its own features, contacts no servers of ours, and works exactly the same in aeroplane mode.
🔐 Parent Zone & the Parent Gate
Settings, progress reports and anything else meant for adults sit behind a parent gate — a 4-digit PIN chosen by the parent, or a multiplication question a young child is unlikely to solve. The PIN is stored only on the device and is never transmitted. It protects access to settings; it is not used to identify anyone.
🧩 Third-Party Services
KidsNova integrates no third-party analytics, advertising, or backend services. The app is built with the open-source Flutter framework and open-source packages that run entirely on-device. The only external components involved are the operating system's own text-to-speech and speech-recognition services described above.
⚙️ Your Rights & Choices
- Delete all data: Parent Zone → Settings lets you delete a child profile or reset everything. Uninstalling removes all local data. See our Delete Data page.
- Revoke the microphone: Android → Settings → Apps → KidsNova → Permissions. The app keeps working without it.
- Turn off reminders: Parent Zone → Settings, or Android notification settings.
- Access & portability: Since all data stays on your device and we never receive it, there is nothing for us to hand over or export.
🔄 Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version. If a future release ever changes how data is handled, we will update this page before that release ships.
